At TheaterWorksUSA, we believe that access to the arts and arts education is vital for our youth and an integral part of a healthy, vibrant community.

For more than 50 years, TheaterWorksUSA has led the Theater for Young and Family Audiences movement, bringing literature and history from the page-to-the stage through more than 140 original plays and musicals for young people. Annually, we provide thousands of theatrical experiences and arts education resources for students, teachers, principals, PTOs, and school districts across North America.

In addition to our touring theater productions, we bring arts education classes to the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and the Southern California region.

For all of our school and community partners, we offer a full-service arts education program that comes with fully developed theater curriculum, trained TWUSA teaching artists, and all the class supplies needed for each session. We also offer a partial package where sites can purchase curriculum only. Our programs can be booked for in-school residencies, after-school programs, and summer camps.

Create, Play, Perform

Create: Make a Story! This interactive class teachers storytelling elements and shows learners how to use them as building blocks to inspire their own short plays. Each creator engages in imaginative play as they "step into the shoes" of their own characters to explore their feelings, actions, conflicts, and surroundings. This class involves movement, simple crafts, and costume play. The course concludes with a sharing of each student's story creation. 12-Session Residency. Customizable for Elementary and Middle School grade levels.
Play: Ensemble Theater Sports. This class encourages students to play creatively and discover how bravery and laughter build great friendships! Teaching Artists lead students on a fun-filled adventure of self-discovery and team-building as they play theater games, learn about improvisation, and work collaboratively to create some truly memorable moments through the art of theater. Each session includes physical warm-ups, theater games, and an introduction to theater terms and vocabulary. Multiple-Session Residency. Customizable for Elementary and Middle School grade levels.
Perform: On Broadway! Get immersed in the magic of Broadway! Students sing, act, and dance to the songs of a different musical each week in this interactive musical theater course. Students learn about Broadway musicals such as: West Side Story, Shrek, and Hamilton, and TheaterWorksUSA's own shows including: Pete the Cat (Elementary School), The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (Middle School).
